Pussy Riot: Riot Days (RU)
A MULTIMEDIA ACT OF RESISTANCE AGAINST OPPRESSION
Riot Days is a multimedia performance based on the memoirs of Maria “Masha” Alyokhina of Pussy Riot. Live music, spoken word, video, and performance art come together to create a powerful narrative about the activism of the Russian feminist protest collective, its sensational actions, and Alyokhina’s imprisonment following the legendary 2012 protest. The current version also addresses the violence and oppression against the LGBTQ+ community, the story of Alexei Navalny, and Putin’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
Since 2017, Riot Days has continued to evolve, responding directly to political persecution and current events. The production has already been performed over 400 times in Europe, North and South America, Australia, and New Zealand.
Through its shows and exhibitions, Pussy Riot has raised more than 200,000 euros for the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv and supported political prisoners in Russia.
