In October 2025, Coroner (CH) released their first new studio album, “Dissonance Theory,” in over thirty years. This album took its time. It developed slowly, remained hidden, and took shape primarily behind the scenes. Until the right moment came to release it to the public. The result was not a return to tried-and-true formulas. It was something new. A work born of silence, friction, and control. The release continues to receive overwhelming acclaim: media, fans, and fellow artists around the world praise the album for its precision, its ambition, and its unmistakable identity. Another classic in a flawless discography.
Launched under the strong influence of their compatriots Hellhammer SAMAEL (CH) never completely severed their black metal roots, but with each release they continued to break free, both spiritually and stylistically. As one of the first more extreme bands to openly embrace the use of a drum machine, the brothers Vorph and Xy created an original sound blending black metal, neoclassical, ethno, and even danceable electronic music, while the “Necro” underground continues to swear by their musty, gritty early work. The band will soon celebrate its 40th (!) anniversary—congratulations!
