Three completely different sounding singers and a sound that is as brute as it is anthemic: these are the main ingredients for the post-hardcore brew that Alexisonfire have been serving up since 2001. In their native Canada, the band already left a lasting mark on the scene with their first two albums, "Alexisonfire" and "Watch Out!". But also elsewhere on the globe numerous friends of harder sounds celebrate AOF for classics à la "This Could Be Anywhere in the World" or "Boiled Frogs" as well as for younger songs like "Sweet Dreams of Otherness". The latter single comes from the 2022 album "Otherness", for which fans had to wait an incredible 13 years after "Old Crows / Young Cardinals". Since then, it is undoubtedly certain: Alexisonfire are still there, and they rock as ever - on record, and especially on tour!
With killer albums like "Watch Out!", "Crisis" and "Old Crows / Young Cardinals" in the luggage, AOF are namely a real live power. George Pettit roars his heart out, Dallas Green counteracts with melodic clear vocals and Wade MacNeil balances with his rough vocals somewhere in the middle between the two. Especially on stage the interaction of the guys is a real pleasure. Green and MacNeil take over the guitars in addition to the vocals, while Chris Steele handles the four-piece and Jordan Hastings pounds away on the drums. When Alexisonfire came together in 2001 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Jesse Ingelevics initially sat behind the drum kit. This place he clears for Hastings in 2005. As far as the line-up is concerned, this remains the only turbulence, but another one follows in 2011, when the band breaks up after four albums together. In 2012, the "Death Letter" EP is still released, featuring acoustic versions of existing songs, but Green and MacNeil record them without their ex-bandmates.
"Otherness": first AOF album in 13 years
In 2015, fortunately, what belongs together comes together again. However, the Alexisonfire reunion will take place only in the form of live shows for the time being. New album? Missing. 2019 there are with "Familiar Drugs" and "Complicit" at least two brand new singles; 2020 follows with "Season of the Flood" another. 2022 then finally the salvation for all longingly waiting AOF fans: The release of the single "Sweet Dreams of Otherness" is accompanied by the good news that after 13 years there will actually be a new album. "Otherness" will be released in June 2022 and consists of a total of ten tracks, including "Sans Soleil", "Reverse the Curse" and of course "Sweet Dreams of Otherness". Of course Alexisonfire celebrate their fifth longplayer with an extensive tour, which leads them among other things to Germany.
All those who have already left in the 2000s to songs like ".44 Caliber Love Letter" "Accidents" or "Young Cardinals", should be happy like a madman that AOF also give gas about two decades later, as if they had not become a day older. Alexisonfire on tour - that's "Happiness by the Kilowatt".
