Bonobo announces tour dates in the UK and the EU, as well as his new album “Distance In Static,” which will be released on September 11 via Ninja Tune. Live on March 23, 2027, at X-TRA Zurich.
Simon Green, aka Bonobo, has announced a series of dates for his brand-new Bonobo live show, which will take him across the UK and Europe in February and March 2027, including a return to the historic Alexandra Palace in London. The show will represent a further evolution of the Bonobo live experience that has captivated fans around the world for more than a decade. In addition to an initial run of dates in North America—scheduled for November and December of this year—this will be Bonobo’s first live tour since his shows in support of the 2022 album “Fragments.”
Green recently explained in an interview with Mixmag as part of his cover feature there: “This time, the show will feature a strong visual element, and we’ll also incorporate more electronic sounds. When I first started performing live, the music was more jazz-oriented, but it has since evolved into something else. I’ve already done solo live shows using only modular synthesizers and a few other devices, so this will be a mix of that and my live band. It’ll be a bit different from last time, with more tempo and energy.”
His groundbreaking live show—centered around a full live band, guest vocalists, and immersive visuals—set the standard for how and where an electronic musician can bring their albums to the live stage. He has performed in front of millions of people around the world, with sold-out shows at prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Alexandra Palace, and Red Rocks Amphitheater—in many cases as one of the first electronic artists ever to do so—as well as on the world’s biggest festival stages, including Glastonbury, Coachella, Sonar, and Fuji Rock. His most recent tour also included both a co-headlining performance at London’s Field Day (alongside Aphex Twin) and a historic, sold-out five-night residency at the Royal Albert Hall —the longest series of consecutive performances by a solo artist at that venue and the longest ever performed there by an electronic musician.
The tour follows the release of Green’s latest album, *Distance in Static*, set to be released on September 11 via Ninja Tune. On the album, he collaborates with his usual impressive roster of artists, including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis (Hundred Waters), and Aanya Martin. The lyrics are in English, Urdu, and Japanese, while historical Iranian samples and guzheng recordings are interwoven with Green’s own meticulously crafted instrumentation—recorded in sessions in LA, Tokyo, London, and beyond—a significant portion of the album was created at Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California, where he had retreated for several weeks earlier this year.
It is an album that marks the pinnacle of his more than 25-year career as a musician and one of the leading figures in electronic music. Over the course of his career, he has released two Top 10 albums (2017’s “Migration” and 2022’s “Fragments,” both of which peaked at No. 5 on the UK charts), plus numerous gold and silver-certified singles, over 900,000 records sold, billions of streams, collaborations with greats like Erykah Badu and Damon Albarn, and nominations for both the BRIT Awards and the GRAMMYs—the latter seven times, including five in the dance/electronic categories—a record number of nominations he shares with The Chemical Brothers, Skrillex, and Madonna.
In addition, Green’s OUTLIER events and DJ sets have continued to place him at the center of contemporary dance music culture, connecting him with generations of clubgoers in warehouses, at festivals, and in underground venues alike. In recent years, he has curated lineups featuring artists such as Barry Can’t Swim, Sofia Kourtesis, salute, Kelly Lee Owens, Mall Grab, DJ Tennis, SG Lewis, Carlita, Elkka, HAAi, John Talabot, Paula Tape, and many more. His OUTLIER showcase, with a capacity of 15,000, at Drumsheds in London became the fastest-selling-out event of the season, and a sold-out “Homecoming” OUTLIER show at On The Beach (Brighton), with a capacity of 10,000, proved to be one of the highlights of the summer.
The album’s visual world—which runs through the entire album and tour artwork—was created in collaboration with acclaimed designer Trevor Jackson. Departing from the landscape-inspired aesthetic of earlier Bonobo albums, “Distance in Static” instead draws on microscopic images by renowned microphotographer John I. Koivula to create crystalline, otherworldly realms that feel both natural and otherworldly.
