Cidade Negra is a brazilian reggae band influenced by 70' funk and soul music, formed in 1986 in Rio de Janeiro. They signed with Sony after a BBC documentary about the Baixada culture and released their debut album in 1991. Since that, they produced 12 albums and are currently working on a 14th.
