Dino Merlin is Bosnia and Herzegovina's most famous singer and songwriter and one of the biggest and most popular musicians in South-Eastern Europe.
In 1983, he founded the pop rock band Merlin, for which he wrote both the music and the lyrics and also performed as lead singer. This made him one of the most popular frontmen in the former Yugoslavia. In 1991, he launched his solo career under the stage name Dino Merlin. Dino represented his country three times at the Eurovision Song Contest. His third entry, ‘Love in Rewind’, reached sixth place in Germany in 2011, which is Bosnia and Herzegovina's second-best result in the history of the competition.
Throughout his career, Dino has collaborated with numerous internationally renowned artists, including Cat Stevens (United Kingdom), Mustafa Sandal (Turkey), Edo Zanki (Germany), Arjinder (Great Britain) and some of the region's biggest stars, including Goran Bregović and others.
His notable concert appearances abroad include the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, the Olympiahalle in Munich, the Rudolf-Weber-Arena in Oberhausen, The Hall in Zurich, the Arena in Geneva, the Vic Theatre in Chicago, Le Bataclan in Paris and the Festival Hall in Melbourne, as well as numerous large stadiums and arenas throughout South-Eastern Europe. At the invitation of the then mayor of Rome, Walter Vetroni, Dino performed at the charity concert for peace, the Glocal Forum, at the Colosseum in Rome in 2002 – together with world-famous artists such as Ray Charles, Mercedes Sosa, Khaled and others.
He is the author of the lyrics of the first official national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jedna si jedina (‘Our Only One’).
