The hit stage show returns in January with an exclusive stop on its anniversary tour in Switzerland!
“Der Kommissar” is back! Following a celebrated premiere tour, the creators of “FALCO – The Musical” are taking their latest masterpiece on a major tour once again. To mark the superstar’s 70th birthday, this authentic “biographical” production—starring Alexander Kerbst—will tour Germany, Austria, and Switzerland from December 2026 through March 2027!
“Falco Meets Amadeus” tells the story of two truly exceptional figures in music history in a visually stunning and eccentric way, combining all of Falco’s greatest hits performed live with the fascinating story of the legendary Viennese composer. The story offers a deep insight into the thoughts and emotions of the artist and the person behind the dazzling pop icon, while paying tribute to the “Falcon’s” magnificent life’s work.
Passau, July 10, 2026. “I’ll only be immortal when I’m dead!” These somber, prescient words form the backdrop for the new tribute to the greatest genius in German-language pop and rap history, who would have turned 70 on February 19, 2027. “Falco Meets Amadeus” is a gripping and deeply moving musical journey through the defining moments in the life of this iconic musician—a man who lived life to the fullest and experienced many highs and lows, ultimately leading to his self-destruction.
Over 60 million records sold, a seemingly endless number of sold-out concerts worldwide, and the only German-language song to date to top the American charts made Falco the most internationally successful Austrian musician of all time, alongside Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In his No. 1 song “Rock Me Amadeus,” he sings, among other things, about Mozart’s popularity, debts, and his relationships with women—parallels that can be attributed not only to his “rock idol” but also to Falco himself. As a turning point in Falco’s career, the song naturally cannot be missing from the new edition of “Falco Meets Amadeus.” In addition to “Rock Me Amadeus” and its origins, there are many other similarities between the two musical geniuses: Both were far ahead of their time, created their own unique musical styles, and thereby shaped the music of their era like no one else; two complex and controversial figures straddling the line between genius and madness, and two lives marked by excess that each came to an end far too soon. Falco died at the age of 40 in a car accident in the Dominican Republic, while Mozart died at the young age of 35 from a high fever. Both lived primarily in Vienna and were laid to rest there. They live on forever in the hearts of their fans, and their musical legacy has ultimately made them immortal.
The song selection in this spectacular show experience ranges from all of Falco’s greatest hits—such as “Der Kommissar,” “Vienna Calling,” “Jeanny,” and “Out of the Dark,” to early successes like “Ganz Wien,” impressive tracks such as “Emotional” and “Coming Home,” a few unjustly forgotten songs, and the song “Europa,” which is once again highly relevant today. The tribute brings “Falco” back to the stage and presents all the songs live with outstanding performers. The dance ensemble’s flamboyant and extravagant performances breathe new life into the songs and wonderfully round out the stage spectacle.
Insider knowledge and years of experience as a guarantee of quality
Even with the last Falco production “FALCO – The Musical,” which was performed over 300 times from 2017 to 2024, the creators were supported by two absolute insiders as consultants: former bandleader Thomas Rabitsch as musical director and former manager and friend Horst Bork. Thanks to this insider knowledge and the expertise gained from the previous Falco show, “Falco Meets Amadeus” is already poised for success with audiences. “It’s truly impressive just how much Falco is still able to move and stir people’s emotions today,” emphasizes lead actor Alexander Kerbst, who, together with Stefan Wessel, embodies the eccentric musician in the show. For him, one thing is certain: “If an artist’s music still reaches the children and grandchildren of his fans from back then, even years after his death, then he is truly immortal.”
On the controversial, exceptional artist and his music
“That was Falco, but now let’s play some proper music.” This comment by radio station Ö3 on a Falco song—well-known among connoisseurs—impressively demonstrates just how controversial the artist was during his lifetime. Renowned musical producer Oliver Forster emphasizes: “The many reports and interviews, the numerous responses from audience members, and—not least—the consistently high demand for a revival prove just how firmly Falco remains anchored in the minds and hearts of music fans. For us, this is of course a stroke of luck, because a risky venture like our earlier Falco production—and now the adaptation of ‘Falco Meets Amadeus’—only works with true, timeless legends.” Just last year, Falco’s hit album “Falco 3” returned to the top of the Austrian album charts 40 years after its original success, proving just how present Falco still is in today’s music scene.
