Man, what this Joris can do! He composes and writes beautiful, touching songs, which he breathes life into with his expressive voice, plays guitar and piano, can also play the drums and is also involved in the production of his albums. His first album "Hoffnungslos Hoffnungsvoll" shot straight to #3 in the German album charts and the chorus of "Herz über Kopf" can probably be sung by just about anyone who switched on the radio in 2015. With songs like "Steine", "Du" or "Home Again" (in a duet with Lotte), Joris has cemented his status as one of the great German singer-songwriters of our time.
Even in childhood, it became apparent that music would one day play an important role in Joris' life. Born in northern Germany in 1989, Joris Ramon Buchholz grew up in the small town of Vlotho in North Rhine-Westphalia. When his parents give their five-year-old son a drum kit, he cries with joy. An uncle also introduces him to playing the piano. Building on these foundations, the musical boy begins to write his own songs before his teenage years and is later active in a school band. With his A-levels in his pocket, Joris initially moved to Berlin, where he dropped out of his studies in sound and music production after two semesters to study at the Mannheim Pop Academy instead. There he also meets the guys with whom he is on stage today. His job as a backliner gives him exciting insights into the world of live concerts and makes him want to be in the limelight himself.
"Heart over Head" - the first hit
A record deal with Four Music brings the up-and-coming artist a whole lot closer to this dream. In 2014, the song "Im Schneckenhaus" put the newcomer in the public eye for the first time, before he landed a genuine super hit with "Herz über Kopf". The fact that the debut album "Hoffnungslos Hoffnungsvoll" immediately placed in the Top 3 of the charts is nevertheless a joyful surprise. Since then, Joris has stood for intense German pop with a positive message. In 2018 he followed up with "Schrei es raus", followed by "Willkommen Goodbye" in 2021. Songs like "Nur die Musik", "Untergang", "Signal", "Feuerwesen" or "Glück auf" are evidence of a multi-layered, multi-faceted musician who sometimes comes across as soulful and vulnerable, only to spread hope and good humour again with elation. Joris has the right soundtrack ready for every mood.
Speaking of good mood: At first glance, you might not believe it of the profound, thoughtful Joris, but live he transports such an infectious energy that as an audience member you wonder whether you have actually landed here with Coldplay or Joris. Not that he is trying to imitate anyone, no, Joris is obviously completely himself, but he displays the show talent of a world star. This man knows how to carry his audience away - and they are at his feet by the second song at the latest. Joris is simply an exceptional artist in every respect!
