Limp Bizkit are an American nu-metal band from Florida. In the 1990s and 2000s, Limp Bizkit were among the most successful bands ever. To this day, they perform to sold-out concert halls and festival stages, playing their best hits from several number one albums and songs from their comeback album, which was surprisingly released in 2021.
Limp Bizkit are formed in 1994 by singer Fred Durst and bassist Sam Rivers in Jacksonville, Florida. The young band quickly landed their first small gigs in their hometown. On the side, Fred Durst continues to work as a tattoo artist and meets the bassist of the metal band Korn, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu.
Korn help the band break through

Suddenly everything happens very quickly. At another tattoo session in Jacksonville, Fred Durst hands the Korn bassist a demo tape of Limp Bizkit. Fieldy hands it over a little later to Ross Robinson, who besides Korn also produces bands like the Deftones and Slipknot. Robinson immediately recognised the talent of the newcomer band and sent Limp Bizkit on tour. For the first time, Fred Durst and his men are allowed to play in front of a larger live audience and are able to win over more and more fans in the support of House Of Pain and Deftones.
In 1997, "Three Dollar Bill Y'All", Limp Bizkit's debut album, is released. From then on, the band never had a moment's peace. They rapidly developed from a newcomer to a permanent fixture on the rap metal scene. Not long ago they were still on the road as a support act, but now Limp Bizkit are selling tickets galore for their own concerts. Fred Durst also works as a producer, owns his own record label and directs Limp Bizkit's music videos.

The eagerly awaited second album "Significant Other" is released in June 1999 and finally makes the group superstars - even beyond the American borders. In the music video for the single "Nookie", in which Fred Durst runs through the New York borough of Queens wearing his famous red baseball cap and ends up playing a street concert with Limp Bizkit, the band has hundreds of fans join in.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, while there are many nu-metal bands, not many are more successful than Limp Bizkit. With their next album "Chocolate Starfish And The Hotdog Flavored Water", the band establishes itself as a chart topper, releasing hit singles like "Rollin'" and the George Michael cover "Faith". Their musical hallmark: hard guitar riffs, turntable beats and Fred Durst's voice alternating between shouting, rapping and singing.
Surprising comeback some 20 years after "Chocolate Starfish"
.
Wes Borland, the band's creative genius, unexpectedly leaves the group in 2001. Without the guitarist, Limp Bizkit's musical direction changes, and it is only with Borland's return a few years later that the band is able to pick up where they left off.
From 2009 onwards, Limp Bizkit play various shows with their old line-up. Even though the nu-metal youth culture has grown up in the meantime, their new music is very popular, especially with old fans.
In 2020, nu-metal is experiencing a revival, driven by younger bands who grew up with the sound of Korn and Limp Bizkit. Limp Bizkit are capitalising on nu-metal's comeback and will be invited to the 2021 Lollapalooza festival, where they will play a greatest-hits set on the main stage.
With the surprise release of "Still Sucks", their first studio album in more than a decade, Limp Bizkit gain a place in the Top 55 of the German album charts in the same year. If you want to celebrate the revival of the defining sound of the 2000s, you shouldn't miss a live show by Limp Bizkit!
