A rousing show, packed with world hits, and at the same time a touching life story: that is "Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical". Tickets for the brilliant production allow you to take a trip into the history of rock and soul.
When the show "Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical" premiered in London's West End in spring 2018, critics and audiences alike gushed - the musical was celebrated with standing ovations. The first performance in Hamburg in 2019 also thrilled the audience.
A large part of this was due to Rita Mae Bullock herself, better known as Tina Turner. For she authorises the production herself - an honour bestowed exclusively on this show. "Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical" captivates the audience not only because of Tina Turner's fascinating and moving life story, but also because of the leading actress Kristina Love.
The American-born actress has lived in Germany for some time and is already known to many musical fans through her roles in "Sister Act" or Disney's "ALADDIN". As Tina Turner, her goosebump voice comes into its own even better, as does her acting talent.
In addition, there are numerous parallels between Tina Turner and Kristina Love: both grew up in the American southern states, both first sang in a gospel choir. For Kristina Love, the role of the legendary singer in "Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical" is both a challenge and an inspiration. After all, despite all the tragedies in her life, Tina Turner always remains positive and never loses sight of her goal, Love says about the music icon.
The story of the "Queen of Rock"
Rita Mae Bullock was discovered when she spontaneously walked out of the audience onto the stage at a concert given by her future husband Ike in 1957 and let her impressive voice ring out. Ike recognises her talent and begins to work with her. Privately, too, the two become a couple. In 1959, the first single by Ike & Tina Turner is released and only one year later the two land their first hit: "Fool In Love".
Although the wedding follows in 1962, the marriage is anything but happy for Tina. In 1977 Tina Turner finally has the strength to file for divorce. The years that followed were hard: the singer worked as a domestic helper and was dependent on social welfare. Nevertheless, she never gives up singing and tours small clubs. It was not until 1984 that she made her breakthrough as a solo artist with the album "Private Dancer".
Record-breaking concerts followed, such as her 1988 performance in front of an incredible 188,000 people in Rio de Janeiro, which earned her an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. Since then, it is impossible to imagine the world of rock, pop and soul without Tina Turner. In 2009, the exceptional artist gives one last tour before she retires into private life. Today she lives in Switzerland with her husband Erwin Bach.
Tina Turner's greatest hits on the musical stage
"Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical", however, does not only tell the touching life story of a singer who separated from her brutal husband with great courage and started a second career like a phoenix from the ashes: Tina Turner's greatest hits are of course also part of the show - from the early success "Nutbush City Limits" to hits like "What's Love Got To Do With It".
Kristina Love is outstanding as the leading lady in "Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical". In combination with an elaborate stage set, strong-voiced supporting actors and detailed costumes, the result is a production described in the "ZEIT" as follows: "It's an evening that entertains and touches without sinking into musical kitsch." Tickets for "Tina - The Original Tina Turner Musical" promise three hours full of emotion and rousing songs that hardly anyone can sit still for!
