27th WORLD BAND FESTIVAL LUZERN presents
Jazz Afternoon
Dutch Swing College BandAdrie Braat, bandleader
What began as the courageous dream of a few enthusiastic young people is now a worldwide
jazz success story. Over 80 years ago, young musicians in the Netherlands kept the then forbidden jazz music alive. Secretly, passionately and unwaveringly. This rebellious love of swing gave rise to the legendary Swing College and later to one of the most renowned jazz formations in the world, the Dutch Swing College Band. On the road as a professional orchestra since 1960, the band has won countless prizes, traveled to all five continents and yet has always remained true to its musical signature: traditional jazz with character. Instead of copying American models, the Dutch Swing College Band has been inspiring audiences for decades with its own interpretations, sophisticated arrangements and unmistakable compositions. Lively, authentic and full of enthusiasm. After a four-year break, this exceptional band is finally returning to the KKL Luzern. So it's high time to experience one of the world's most successful old-time jazz bands in Lucerne again. The audience can also look forward to a special premiere with Jazz Afternoon. For the first time, a rousing Dixie Jazz concert will take place early on a Sunday afternoon. Relaxed, upbeat and the perfect way to end the week with swing and a good mood.
