The Whitney Houston Story - One Moment in Time
The pop music icon honored in a unique live performance—on tour in Switzerland for the first time
The enthusiasm for the unforgettable singer and entertainer lives on! Even years after her far-too-early death (on February 11, 2012, in Beverly Hills), Whitney Houston remains a pop icon whose musical legacy—spanning pop, soul, and R&B—is unparalleled. The tribute event “One Moment In Time” offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the pop diva’s immortal hits in a live performance so electrifying it feels as if Whitney Houston herself were standing before the audience!
Whitney Houston, born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, USA, is celebrated as one of the greatest singers of all time, thanks to her incomparable voice, which captures emotion in a unique way. With a remarkable vocal range and an unmistakable timbre, she could effortlessly switch between genres such as pop, R&B, and soul. Her powerful voice and technical brilliance defined an era, and her breathtaking live performances, in particular, left a lasting impression on music history.
“Is it even possible to vocally replicate Whitney Houston?”, the Rheinische Post rightly asked in 2023—and answered, referring to the live show “One Moment In Time”: “The singer in this show pulls it off.” In the tribute show “One Moment In Time,” Donna Blackwood captivates the audience with an exceptionally authentic and emotional rendition of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits. The Manchester-based artist, a truly exceptional talent and hidden gem, has mastered the vocal range of gospel, soul, and R&B since childhood and performs Whitney Houston’s challenging songs with impressive confidence.
“Whitney Houston’s incomparable voice, her overwhelming energy, and charismatic presence remain an inspiration to this day,” explains the show’s team. Together with a first-class live band, a rousing background ensemble, and an energetic dance crew—all selected for this show based on their extraordinary skills and passion for perfection —the singer celebrates Whitney’s musical journey and her numerous chart-toppers in a way that amazes and deeply moves the audience. Modernes multimedia technology and a faithful-to-the-original light show transform every concert into a spectacular and unforgettable event.
The Homage’s repertoire includes timeless hits such as “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Saving All My Love for You,” of course “One Moment in Time,” and many more. With this selection, it’s no wonder that Houston has sold over 200 million records worldwide. But the late singer created her most spine-tingling moments above all when she performed live. A small part of that memory is captured in “One Moment in Time” and brought back to life for one evening.
