Zurich comedian and doctor Fabian Unteregger is back on stage in Switzerland with his new program "Fachkräftemangel". He presents biting comedy, social punchlines and his popular parody characters. In the video podcast, he gives us a look behind the scenes.
In "Fachkräftemangel", Unteregger takes aim at the madness of everyday life. Whether in the Federal Council, where people head departments for which they are not qualified, in gastronomy, construction or weather forecasting - there is a shortage of skilled workers everywhere. With his characters, who cheekily "add their two cents", and topical gags, he delivers comedy that hits the spot. Politics, business, everyday life: nothing is safe from his humor.
Born in 1977, comedian, food engineer, doctor and entrepreneur - he somehow manages to juggle it all. And how does he do it? "One after the other and with a hell of a lot of organization," he says in the podcast.
Unteregger is a multi-talented man who juggles with passion. How did he get into medicine? He originally came from a marketing background, where he was in contact with many people and their problems. This inspired him to start studying medicine at the age of 30 - and to do comedy gigs on the side, as well as launching other projects such as setting up business networks.
Unteregger develops his jokes by observing everyday life and addressing social issues - always humorous, never missionary. "My mission? To provide people with an entertaining show," he says. His parodies of celebrities such as politicians Albert Rösti and Christoph Blocher are legendary.
Fun fact: Blocher once let him stand in for him in the "Samschtig-Jass" show and Fabian even received an original pair of Blocher glasses from him as a gift. Dialects? He has them in his blood, practices them everywhere and uses them skillfully - but sometimes he also takes advice from the "locals" - as can be heard in the podcast.
But parodies are just a tool for him - the focus is always on entertainment. There is also music, a mysterious high-tech number. Unteregger also gives keynotes on artificial intelligence. He says: "What fascinates me is finding out how things work - whether it's people, food science or comedy."
As a trained helicopter pilot, he brings a pinch of flying discipline to his shows. "Checklists and procedures from flying? I use them everywhere," he says. Whether on stage or in life - Fabian remains systematic, but always with a twinkle in his eye.
