Splish, Splash: The crazy brothers Volker and Thomas Martins, alias Chaostheater Oropax, are once again organizing water fights this summer, throwing nonsense at their audience and laughing their way through town and country - consistently open-air.
The wild brothers from Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) are performing their successful program "Pool Position" in local swimming pools between Kreuzlingen TG and Brunnen SZ this summer. "Pool Position is our most varied program," explains Volker Martins, "the pools are very different, and it actually rained during one performance. Our technician spontaneously built a small stage in the changing room and we continued our program on it. The audience loved it."
Radish in the pool and meatloaf in swimming trunks
Political news is rarely incorporated into Pool Position, "only when a politician goes swimming", says Martins. The creative brothers are also best friends in real life, and they sometimes use highly personal topics, such as jealousies, to twist them into grandiose and abstruse gags for their stage programs. For example, what's a radish doing in a pool? And why is the meat loaf stuck to Thomas' swimming trunks? The current show is set in and around the swimming pool - and Oropax is on the verge of madness. Charming and full of puns.
