Her seventh stand-up tour looks back on 30 years of drag—and will be performed live in Zurich on April 29, 2027.
With «It Gets Bitter», Bianca Del Rio turns a career milestone into new material. Her seventh solo stand-up tour looks back on 30 years of drag while also focusing on pop culture, world events, and everyday frustrations. On April 29, 2027, the English-language show will come to Zurich.
The title alludes to the well-known «It Gets Better» campaign, but draws a far less conciliatory conclusion. Bianca Del Rio has been a drag performer for three decades. Instead of a nostalgic retrospective, she has developed a new hour-long stand-up show from this experience.
In terms of content, «It Gets Bitter» tackles pop culture, current events, and everyday behaviors that get on Del Rio’s nerves. Scripted jokes are mixed with spontaneous reactions and direct interaction with the audience. Those sitting close to the stage might therefore find themselves becoming part of the show.
The tour is Bianca Del Rio’s seventh full-length solo show. It begins in November 2026 in Latin America and continues through North America and Europe in 2027. Zurich is on the official tour schedule for April 29.
Behind Bianca Del Rio is New Orleans-born comedian and costume designer Roy Haylock. He gained international fame in 2014 as the winner of the sixth season of «RuPaul’s Drag Race». Del Rio’s career wasn’t limited to television after that.
She starred in both «Hurricane Bianca» films, published a book, and appeared on stage in London’s West End in «Everybody’s Talking About Jamie». In 2025, she made her New York stage debut in an Off-Broadway production of «Tartuffe».
Comedy, however, remained at the center of her work. Del Rio works with precise timing and a form of insult comedy that hits others just as hard as her own stage persona. «It Gets Bitter» continues this style but explicitly tackles the present. This makes the show more than just an anniversary tour.
On Thursday, April 29, 2027, Bianca Del Rio will perform at 8:00 p.m. at the Volkshaus in Zurich. The show will be performed in English and is open to audiences ages 16 and up.
Tickets are currently available at Ticketcorner. In addition to regular seats, categories including a meet-and-greet are also offered. «It Gets Bitter» is not a traditional drag cabaret, but rather a stand-up comedy show featuring a performer who has been honing her material in front of large audiences for years.
