With his brand new show "Timing", stand-up comedian Charles Nguela brings his fourth comedy show to the stage. The title "Timing" says it all: Charles deals with a universal truth that affects us all - timing. Inspired by the wise words of his mother - "Timing is everything in life" - he shows how the right moment determines opportunities and dreams. Or how, with bad timing, everything ends in disaster.
Charles himself has a special talent for being in the wrong place at the wrong time - even though he is always on time! Whether it's meeting the love of his life, catching the career-defining moment or simply putting the perfect pause on a joke: Timing is everything!
Except perhaps with his cousins in South Africa, as he says: "They are chronically late, but score with the most charming excuse: Food! Because it's hard to be angry with someone who arrives late but has food for everyone."
"Timing" is intended to be more than just a comedy program: "It's an evening full of stories written by life itself - with all its bizarreness, unexpected twists and turns, embarrassing situations, narrowly missed opportunities and completely unnecessary disasters.
Good timing probably also ensured that Charlie, who was born in Zaire in 1989 and previously worked as a printing technologist, became a comedian. Or was it a coincidence? After an emotional break-up, he told his friends in the Lenzburg "Ochsen". A woman present asked if he could be booked as a comedian, whereupon his friends signed him up for the local juggler festival. Since then, he has achieved impressive success, including multiple awards at the Swiss Comedy Awards. Nguela won the jury and audience award for his debut program "Schwarz-Schweiz" in 2014 and repeated this success in 2022 with "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." In addition to his comedy appearances, he can regularly be seen on Swiss television, hosts events and is a UNICEF ambassador. His humorous but also socially critical style has made him one of the most sought-after comedians in Switzerland - and a popular advertising ambassador. He now appears almost as often as Roger Federer in the campaigns of various providers.
