David Gilmour, the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd, returns with his new solo album «Luck And Strange».
After nine years without a new studio album and shortly before the announcement of his big shows in Rome and London (September/October 2024), many fans were wondering when David Gilmour would release new music again. The answer was provided by a dog in a video announcement in April 2024:
«Luck And Strange» is an album that offers both familiar and fresh musical approaches. With nine new tracks, Gilmour continues his musical journey and offers his fans a mixture of traditional rock elements and modern sounds. The tracks range from deeply melancholic ballads to energetic rock numbers reminiscent of Pink Floyd's heyday. With «Luck And Strange», Gilmour once again proves himself to be a master storyteller and musician who never ceases to surprise his fans. The album is not only another chapter in his solo career, but also a sign that he is still willing to develop musically and break new ground.
The first single, «The Piper's Call», already gave us a taste of what to expect: a deep, emotional journey through the work of one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters of our time.
The motif for the new album cover and tour visual comes from Anton Corbijn, the art director of the bands Depeche Mode and U2, who is best known for the cover of the U2 album «The Joshua Tree». The «Luck and Strange» visual once again shows the Dutch photographer to be a creative and subtle nature photographer.
