Judas Priest, the pioneers of heavy metal, are coming to Switzerland

Judas Priest are not considered the pioneers of heavy metal for nothing. The legendary band will be performing at the Hallenstadion Zurich on July 3, 2025 as part of their "Shield of Pain Tour".

Judas Priest, consisting of singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis, has had a significant influence on the development of heavy metal. Founded in Birmingham in 1969, the group is regarded as one of the genre's most influential and long-lasting formations and has sold more than 50 million albums in its 50-year career.

Their characteristic sound, characterized by Halford's distinctive voice and two-part guitar harmonies, influenced numerous subsequent bands.

The band went through several line-up changes and stylistic developments over the course of its history. After initial difficulties, Judas Priest achieved greater commercial recognition for the first time with the album "British Steel", released in 1980. In the following years, the group consolidated their status as metal icons with albums such as "Screaming for Vengeance" (1982). Despite a brief separation from singer Rob Halford in the 1990s, the band returned in its classic line-up in 2003.

Still influential after 55 years

Since then, Judas Priest have continued to release new albums and tour the world. Their most recent studio album "Invincible Shield" was released on 8 March 2024 and many reviewers praised it as a worthy successor to the 2018 album "Firepower", highlighting its versatility and song quality.

The performance at the Hallenstadion Zurich is part of their current "Shield of Pain Tour", on which they will present classics from their entire career as well as newer material. Fans can look forward to the band's characteristic stage show, which has become known not only for its music but also for its leather and studded appearance.
