The Kooks rock the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl

15/01/2025 written by Lena

British indie pop icons The Kooks will be performing at the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl in Solothurn on April 21, 2025. The performance is part of the 20th anniversary of the Kofmehl, affectionately known as the "Rostwürfel". Fans can look forward to a nostalgic journey through the band's hits, complemented by fresh material from the new album.

20 years of band history: from "Naive" to today

Founded in Brighton in 2004, the band consists of frontman Luke Pritchard (39), guitarist and keyboardist Hugh Harris (37), drummer Alexis Nunez (39) and bassist Peter Denton (42). Since then, The Kooks have become a permanent fixture in indie pop. Their style combines elements of indie rock, pop and Britpop. The band's name comes from the song "Kooks" by David Bowie, which illustrates their early influences from the British rock and pop scene. They celebrated international success with their debut album Inside In/Inside Out (2006). Songs such as "Naive", "She Moves in Her Own Way" and "Seaside" became classics and shaped the British music scene of the 2000s. The mixture of infectious melodies and relaxed guitar riffs quickly made them favorites on festival stages. Further successful albums such as Konk (2008) and Junk of the Heart (2011) followed in the years that followed.

After almost two decades of band history, The Kooks have remained true to their style without shying away from further development. Their new album, which will be released this spring, is a return to their roots, mixed with fresh influences.
