The Sugababes are back - and coming to Switzerland! The British girl group Sugababes, one of the most successful pop bands of the 2000s, are celebrating their big comeback. The original line-up with Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy will perform at Halle 622 in Zurich on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The history of the Sugababes is characterized by numerous line-up changes and comebacks. Founded in 1998 by the then 12-year-old friends Mutya, Keisha and Siobhán, they had their big breakthrough in 2000 with "Overload"
In the following years, all founding members left the band one after the other and were replaced by new singers.
From 2009, the band continued to exist with three other members, which led to a protracted legal dispute over the name "Sugababes".
Keisha Buchanan remembers: "We fought for a long time to be allowed to be the Sugababes again. We came up with the name when we were about 12 years old. But in the end, someone else had the rights to the name and didn't want to give it back to us for a long time."
In 2012, the original members released music as a trio again for the first time, but under the name MKS. After years of fighting, they managed to get the band name "Sugababes" back in 2019. In the following years, they celebrated a successful comeback: in 2021, they released a new edition of their debut album "One Touch", followed in 2022 by festival appearances and the release of the album "The Lost Tapes", which reached number 2 in the download charts.
Fans can look forward to a concert that will feature big hits such as "Freak Like Me", "Round Round" and "Push the Button" as well as new songs. The Sugababes already proved at the end of August 2024 at the Zurich Openair that they have lost none of their energy.
Their performance in Zurich on April 30, 2024 promises to be a nostalgic yet fresh evening.
