Canadian artist The Weeknd has announced the release of his sixth studio album "Hurry Up Tomorrow" for January 24, 2025. This album marks the conclusion of his trilogy, which began with "After Hours" (2020) and continued with "Dawn FM" (2022). On 25 January 2025, The Weeknd will be giving a single concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium to celebrate his new album. It is not yet known when his tour, which has been announced on social media, will start and whether it will also take him to Switzerland.
With "Hurry Up Tomorrow", The Weeknd closes an era known for personal lyrics and cinematic sounds. The album is described as a multi-layered work that focuses on the themes of time, loss and redemption. It seems to represent the conclusion of a journey that has pushed The Weeknd to his limits musically and personally.
The first singles, including "Dancing in the Flames" with bubbling synthesizers and powerful beats, as well as "Timeless" with Playboi Carti, set a clear direction: dark, hypnotic and emotional. "São Paulo" with Anitta stands out in particular - a track that combines Latin American rhythms with The Weeknd's melancholic vibe.
A psychological thriller of the same name is being released alongside the album, in which The Weeknd plays the leading role alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The film combines the album themes with a visual, musical narrative and focuses on a dark, psychological approach.
This project confirms The Weeknd's ambition to unite music, film and visual storytelling and to be recognized as a multidisciplinary artist.
A special concert is planned for January 25, 2025 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, to present the album. Although The Weeknd has announced a new tour for 2025, no further dates or venues have been confirmed yet. It is therefore still open whether he will also perform in Switzerland.
The Weeknd last performed at the Hallenstadion Zurich on February 26, 2017 as part of his "Starboy: Legend of the Fall" tour. A concert planned for November 2, 2022 at the Hallenstadion Zurich unfortunately had to be canceled.
