An exciting exhibition about the "unsinkable ship" that has been lying at the bottom of the ocean since 1912. After major successes in Paris, Las Vegas, Melbourne and Brussels, "Titanic - L'Exposition" is coming to Lausanne at the end of September 2024.
Experience history up close: Many original Titanic wreck finds will be on display in Lausanne from September 27 to January 26, 2025. Replicas, including the famous grand staircase of the luxury liner, will complement them. The exhibition takes visitors back to the time of the legendary ship.
On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic set sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England. The most luxurious and modern ship at the time collided with an iceberg at 11:40 a.m. on April 14, 1912 and sank 2 hours and 40 minutes later on April 15, with the loss of almost 1,500 lives.
The Titanic fascinated people for decades. Her stories told of heroism, love, fear and difficult decisions. James Cameron's film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet became a huge success in 1995.
The exhibition takes visitors back to April 1912, when the largest passenger ship set sail on its first and last voyage. Visitors to the exhibition are given a replica of the boarding pass. They become passengers and experience the Titanic voyage. It begins with the construction of the ship, continues with life on board and ends with the sinking. It is also about the recovery of artifacts and the preservation of the wreck for science and history.
The educational, family-friendly exhibition also vividly shows the stories of the people on board the RMS Titanic, especially the Swiss: Who were they? What was their fate? You can find out their stories here. A visit to Lausanne is definitely worthwhile.
