Premiere of Art on Ice: art, talent and skill combined to create the perfect show

02/03/2018 written by Mario von Ow und Christoph Soltmannowski
Art in all its forms, entertainment at all levels in harmonious interplay: "Art on Ice" thrilled the audience at its premiere in Zurich's Hallenstadion.

A line-up with stars from the worlds of entertainment and ice skating is an ideal prerequisite for a good show. The result in "Art on Ice" impresses with an original, well-executed storyline - the story of the sly art forger Wolfgang Beltracchi - and above all with the harmonious interplay between all the performers.

This creates several highlights. One of the most outstanding is the "duet" by singer Emeli Sandé with Stéphane Lambiel - other highlights are provided by the Biel pop high-flyers Pegasus, as well as two-time Olympic gold medallist and three-time ice skating world champion Evgeni Plushenko and the 2014 Olympic champions Tatjana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov. Meryl Davis & Charlie White and the runners-up in the world championships and Olympic champions inPyeongchang, Aljona Savchenko & Bruno Massot, will also provide the musical entertainment with Chinese electric cellist Tina Guo. Emotional moments will be provided by newcomer Laura Bretan, just 15 years old, with her fresh but very powerful soprano voice.

So much for the big stars, who are supported on ice and stage by many other talents, in dance, music, acrobatics and comedy, embedded in a multimedia stage show that provided seamless entertainment at all levels with projections, animations and some technical gimmicks.

Once again, Art on Ice creators Reto Caviezel and Oliver Höner have given their all with love and passion to conjure up an impressive production on ice and stage. To be seen until March 4 at the Hallenstadion Zurich, then in Lausanne (March 6 and 7) and in Davos (March 9).
