The Ice Queen" has almost nothing to do with the original version by Hans Christian Andersen. Now the most successful animated film of all time is coming to the Hallenstadion - accompanied by a symphony orchestra.

Disney is used to success: since 1923, the company founded by brothers Walt and Roy O. Disney has been raking in money with children's films. Annual turnover in 2016: 55.6 billion dollars. But the success of the film "Frozen" (original title: "Frozen") is also extraordinary for the company from Burbank, California. With box office takings of around 1.2 billion dollars, "Frozen" is the ninth most successful film of all time and the most successful animated film ever. It has been seen by 4.7 million viewers. It's not just audiences who love the 2013 film, the high priests of cinematic art have also honored the work: the film won Oscars for best animated film and best film song ("Let It Go").

Planned back in 1937, not realized until 2013

An adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen" was already a topic in 1937. But it was postponed again and again. Disney waited until 2013 to film the Danish author's classic tale.

The fairy tale tells the story of the fearless princess Anna, who sets out with her companions to free the kingdom of Arendelle from the hands of her sister, the Snow Queen Elsa. Together with Kristoff, reindeer Sven and the warm-hearted snowman Olaf, Anna faces the natural elements and magical obstacles before she and Elsa are reunited and the evil spell is dispelled.

However, it won't be that long until the sequel. Frozen 2 is due to be released in cinemas in November 2019. If you don't want to wait until then, head to Zurich's Hallenstadion on March 23. The German version of the film will be shown there on a gigantic screen, and a symphony orchestra will play the music live - including the well-known melodies sung by the Neue Wiener Stimmen choir and accomplished soloists.

Music plays a leading role in "The Ice Queen". In the original script version, the Snow Queen was heartless and emotionless - just like in Andersen's fairy tale. But then two famous Broadway composers wrote the title song "Let It Go" and transformed Elsa into a vulnerable, misunderstood young woman. The directors liked this twist so much that they quickly rewrote the entire script.
