5 questions for... Seinabo Sey

05/07/2016 written by Michel Imhof
Some media refer to the 25-year-old singer Seinabo Sey as the Swedish Adele. And not without reason.

Your father is also a musician. Was it always clear that you would become a singer?

No. At first, I wanted to learn a financially secure profession: a lawyer. But then I realized that you have to study for a long time to do that. And I don't like studying, but I do like singing!

The remix of your song "Younger" was a great success. Which version do you prefer?

The original! I worked on it for two years. The remix is a song by Kygo and totally different.

What is important to you when writing music?

To be real. I'm allergic to people not telling the truth. That's why I also sing about the small, ugly feelings that you don't normally talk about.

Do you have a connection to Switzerland?

Many people always think that I come from Switzerland. But they simply confuse Sweden with Switzerland. I always have to explain to them that they are two different countries.

What do you think of playback singing?

Bullshit! You should just be able to sing live. If it's absolutely unnecessary and impossible to sing live, fine. But that's like karaoke.
