Understated make-up and outfits like in the 80s: Nevertheless, the Haim sisters have not stood still. They naturally remain true to their musical style.
The band
With their song "Forever", the three sisters, Este, Danielle and Alana Haim from California, were already surfing at the top of the wave of success in 2012. After releasing their second hit "Days Are Gone" a year later, nothing stood in Haim's way of success.
Their sound is reminiscent of eighties bands such as Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles. No wonder Haim found themselves one day in the villa of Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks, where they sang the song "Rhiannon" together at the piano.
The album
Like the first album "Days Are Gone", their second album "Something To Tell You" also had its beginnings in the Haim family's living room. However, a lot has changed in the time between the two albums: The Haim sisters have been on tour for three years and have grown up and matured. They show this in a very emotional film in which they thank a high school teacher who changed their lives.
Haim worked with greats such as Dev Hynes, Rostam Batmanglij and Owen Pallett for the new album.
Verdict
With their new album, Haim show once again that they are not a mainstream pop band. The rhythms vary and the melodies are versatile. From funky R'n'B sounds to church music-like moods, Haim have it all. The songs can therefore be used for any mood: Whether for a barbecue party, during a car journey, for lonely hours or in the club. We had to wait a long time for the new album, but their hard work has paid off.
Playing tips
The songs are all so different and captivating that it is difficult to decide on a favorite. After much deliberation, here are our favorites:
"Little Of Your Love": the perfect song to sing and sway along to with beautiful backing tracks.
"Night So Long": A lyrical, soulful song for lonely moments.
"Found It In Silence": The string sounds are intense and give the song that certain something.
"Want You Back": Heartfelt love song for cuddling as well as dancing.
Live
Haim's live videos make you want to go to a live concert. Unfortunately, the sisters have not announced any concerts in Switzerland at the moment. Should this change, the ticket alarm will inform you immediately.
