It has been around three years since Felix Jaehn reached the top of the charts around the world with his remix of the granny song "Cheerleader". His debut album has only just followed.
It was important to him not to just bang out songs. This is how Felix Jaehn explains the long production time of "I".
The artist
Felix Jaehn learned to make music: As a child he played the violin, as a teenager he gained his first DJ experience and as a 17-year-old man he set off to London to study music production. With success: he remixed Grandma's song "Cheerleader" and landed a worldwide hit with it - it even reached number 1 in the American Billboard charts. The last time this happened was in the early nineties with producer Frank Farian and the "karaoke" band Milli Vanilli. This was followed by further hits such as "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)" with Jasmine Thompson and "Bonfire" with Finnish singer Alma. He also released the song "Stimme" together with Mark Forster under the name Eff, and released the song "Jeder für Jeden" with Herbert Grönemeyer as part of the 2016 UEFA European Football Championship.
The album
This is what the cover of Felix Jaehn's first album looks like.
Strangely enough, "I" is Felix Jaehn's debut album, even though he has been in the business for several years. The new album therefore functions both as an album with new tracks and as a "best of" album. Of the total of 25 tracks, 15 are completely new. Nevertheless, the sound comes from a single source. What's more, almost every song is a collaboration. "I could have put together ten songs for an album right after 'Ain't Nobody', but that's not my ambition," he reveals to RTL 2 News.
Hair off: In the video for "Cool", Felix Jaehn shows himself without his mane.
The verdict
Felix Jaehn has a knack for cool sounds: his songs are just as suitable for cozy hours in the sun as they are for a party. What's more, it's difficult to categorize the music here: Felix Jaehn moves between pop, house and dance. Regardless, with his first album, the 23-year-old German not only delivers proven hits, but also chart material for the future.
