Kelly Clarkson's eighth album is her first that was not produced under a record deal from winning "American Idol". The new creative freedom suits the US singer.
The artist
Kelly Clarkson now has more artistic freedom, which is also reflected on the new album. Here is the cover of "Meaning Of Life".
It has been 15 years since Kelly Clarkson won "American Idol", the US version of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar". This makes her one of the first big casting show stars. She had released seven albums during this time, enjoyed numerous chart successes and even won three Grammys. Hits such as "Since U Been Gone", "Breakaway" and, above all, "Because of You" ensured her international success.
Clarkson is now married and has two children. She recently attracted attention when she sang "Piece by Piece" on the American Idol season 15 finale and burst into tears, as the song is about her childhood without a father. "Sorry, I'm pregnant," she said of her emotional performance. The song version of the performance was later nominated for a Grammy.
The album
"Meaning Of Life" is Clarkson's first album after completing her record deal with "American Idol". The artist had numerous problems with her last label, there was talk of differences in song selection and bullying. Now, with the new label Atlantic Records, Clarkson has greater artistic freedom. The album is described as an R&B and soul album, a change in Clarkson's previous style.

The change of style is good for Kelly Clarkson. The proportion of soul has increased considerably and Clarkson's voice really comes into its own. The similarity to Pink's music is somewhat irritating, as both have similar voices and certain songs could also be attributed to Pink's repertoire in terms of style, but in the end these are also good songs on Clarkson's new album. "Love So Soft" is also a little reminiscent of ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. The sound seems authentic, describing the point Clarkson is at in her life as a mother of four (twice stepmother) and wife.
