The artists
The last self-titled album by the sibling duo from Australia was released three years ago. It topped the top ten in their home country, but the album "Angus & Julia Stone" also enjoyed great success in Switzerland, reaching number three in the charts.
The album
The siblings produced practically everything themselves for their fourth studio album "Snow". Julia explains: "Normally there is at least one manager or engineer involved, but in the final writing phase and during the recording it was just me and him and the peace and quiet of the countryside for eight full weeks. It was a wonderful time". These magical moments that the two of them experienced during those eight weeks can also be heard in the songs: Acoustic and smooth harmonies are there, as well as easily recognizable modern touches.
Verdict
"Snow" has partly modern, partly electronic tones. It seems as if last year's collaboration with Norwegian DJ Kygo ("For What It's Worth") has left its mark. Despite the new influence - Angus & Julia Stone remain true to their roots and convince with emotion. You also need them to experience "Snow" in its full spectrum.
Recommended tracks
"Nothing Else": Typical Angus-Julia sound.
"Baudelaire": Contains more modern elements.
"Sylvester Stallone": Perfect finish from Angus & Julia Stone.
