In the Gampel trailer "Mitten drin ohne Campino", the singer takes the mickey out of his fans. No problem for the singer with acting experience.
In the YouTube clip "Mitten drin ohne Campino", the Hosen frontman Campino announced that he would not be performing at Open Air Gampel in 2017. The reason: Liverpool will be on the pitch that day - and when his favorite football club is playing, it will be tight for other things. However, the punk singer assured that the Gampel gig would not fall through. He has a replacement: Helmut is standing in. The smiling trailer spread like wildfire and briefly caused a stir. Is Campino not coming to Valais again? The punk rockers turned Gampel down back in 2015 because Campino's inflamed vocal chords wouldn't cooperate. And in 2017? It's all just a joke, we now know. Campino has already proven several times that he has talent in front of a camera.
From punk to gangster
Campino experimented with acting as early as 1986. In Bernd Schadewald's "Loser", he initially played himself, a punk. Six years later, he repeated the experience in the comedy "Langer Samstag". His debuts are poorly received, and he is beaten up by the press. "Die Zeit" writes: "Campino has an eternal grin on his face: a celebrity miscast." The singer himself is not happy either: "It was a disaster. When I see this movie today, I get a stomach ache." Nevertheless, he agreed in 2006 when the Austrian cult actor and director Klaus Maria Brandauer (73, "Jenseits von Afrika") came knocking. He wanted to restage Brecht's "Threepenny Opera". Campino is to interpret the gangster and womanizer Mackie Messer. Brandauer brings the Düsseldorfer to the Burgtheater in Vienna after an unplugged gig by the Hosen.
The Tote Hosen frontman received a second accolade in 2008 when renowned film director Win Wenders wrote the drama "Palermo Shooting" especially for him. Campino plays a star photographer who is searching for the meaning of life. The film was shown in Cannes but did not win an award. No matter, it was a wonderful experience for Campino: "I haven't been as happy as I was in Palermo for many years. Waking up in this city, the sun shining, always the same corner café, the same butcher. All the Sicilians were grateful that someone was filming something that wasn't about the mafia," says the 54-year-old after filming in Italy. Repeats are not ruled out.
