Crocus: The end of a long journey

01/02/2019 written by Ticketcorner
The beginning was tough and arduous because there was nothing comparable in this country. The hard rock scene was only just awakening. But the guys from the southern foot of the Jura were not deterred and went their own way. Since 1975, Krokus have stood for honest, handmade power rock: sharp riffs, strong vocals, an infectious groove and catchy songs.

After five years of preparation with countless concerts in Switzerland and Europe, the band began their triumphal march through America, Canada and England in 1980. Krokus cemented their reputation as a strong, no-frills live band. Unforgettable headlining tours, on the same bills with AC/DC, Van Halen, Rush, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Motorhead and many more.

Great adventures, wild times, which also earned the Swiss rockers honorary citizenship of Memphis, Tennessee. Krokus were also the first Swiss band to fill Zurich's Hallenstadion in 1982. No other Swiss rock band sells so many of its albums and back catalog worldwide. More than 15 million records, worldwide tours, gold and platinum in the USA and Canada. Their rock milestones can still be found all over the world today - from Australia to the USA, Mexico and Russia to Japan and China - and Krokus clips are viewed millions of times on YouTube.

The history of this band is unique. Characterized by highs and lows. From sweaty club gigs to grandiose stadium concerts. The Swiss rock musketeers overcame short-lived trends, insidious US managers, bad deals, dodgy lawyers, drugs, bad fast food, endless bus trips, disco, grunge, grotesque record companies, hypocritical advisors and fake pats on the back.
"Krokus experienced a brutal crash in the 90s with questionable albums and dizzying personnel changes."

But there were also deaths, illness, internal disputes and break-ups that drove the band to the brink of ruin. Krokus experienced a brutal downfall in the 90s with questionable albums and dizzying personnel changes. Only a few still believed in a resurrection of this quarrelling band.

Then, in 2008, the original band made a big comeback at the Stade de Suisse. "The thing that brought us back together was stronger than the thing that divided us: the music!" says the band today. "There is nothing stronger and more beautiful for us than playing this rock. Together we try to create our own, unmistakable sound and refine our style."
"If you look at the long-term work of this band, Krokus are clearly one of the best hard rock bands of the last 40 years." Malcom Dome, Kerrang

Krokus have now been on the road for over ten years, successfully hammering the stages of this world. During their career, the band from Solothurn have rocked over 2000 shows on five continents, thrilled millions, and even Rihanna has worn their shirt live. This unique journey is now coming to an end with the "Adios Amigos" tour in 2019. The band will once again play major European festivals (including Wacken), as well as gigs in England and the USA and the final show at the Hallenstadion in Zurich.

British journalist legend Malcom Dome (Kerrang) says: "If you look at the long-term work of this band, Krokus are clearly one of the best hard rock bands of the last 40 years." The boys want to prove this once again in 2019.

The final fireworks will be set off on 7 Dec 2019 in Zurich's Hallenstadion. A great chapter in Swiss rock history will then come to an end.
