Some have a favorite animal, others a favorite chord. Dana Burkhard likes minor 7 in every way. The Biel native knows what she wants.
The singer has been honing her voice with her singing teacher since she was eleven. She taught herself to play the guitar. Practicing has paid off. In 2014, Dana was nominated as a finalist for the "Kleiner Prix Walo". Since then, she has been taking over Swiss clubs with her acoustic guitar or together with her band. Last year, for example, she played at the Kofmehl or the Blue Balls Festival in Lucerne. The high school student is now 18 years old. She prefers to play where she is not actually allowed to because of her year. After all, her music already sounds pretty mature - and multi-faceted.
Her pop songs are sometimes calm, sometimes funky - and her voice is sometimes reminiscent of a jazz singer. Dana's role models are not Selena Gomez or Taylor Swift. They are Bill Withers or Marvin Gaye. In honor of her favorites, she has their songs in her repertoire as well as her own.
Thanks to her appearance on BalconyTV Zurich, the musician can now present herself to an international audience. She is even following in the footsteps of her idol Joss Stone. The British soul singer also made a stop on the balcony in Zurich. However, Dana's goal is not necessarily to become a big star. For her, music is an indispensable nutrient, an elixir of life.
