Lindsey Stirling: Pop star without vocals

27/09/2016 written by Michel Imhof
Lindsey Stirling has managed to become a big pop star without singing: With her violin skills and the expressive dance that goes with them, she inspires the masses.

She is an unusual violinist, but that is precisely her recipe for success: Lindsey Stirling became famous with her YouTube videos in which she performed her modern violin sound.

With these videos, she made it to "America's Got Talent" and reached the quarter-finals of the casting show, and today she travels all over the world, bringing her music, mostly without vocals, to all corners of the globe. She has already completed two world tours and is currently on her third.

But she is not a typical violinist: her music is more modern, often reminiscent of Celtic electro music. Typical of Sterling are also the dances that she has been performing on stage to accompany her music since her YouTube videos.

The first single "Crystallize" finally helped Stirling make her breakthrough. But it was the albums that were even more successful for her. All three longplayers released to date have reached the top position in both the dance and classical crossover US Billboard charts.

Her latest album "Brave Enough" has been available since August 19. It is more diverse than its predecessors: "I really wanted to work with an artist from the country scene for one song," Stirling told the Huffington Post. "That's why there's a song with Dan + Shay on the new album." But that's not all: rap, pop, rock, classical and electro influences can also be found on the record.

Lindsey Stirling is currently on tour. Switzerland is also on the agenda: on March 15, 2017, she will be performing at the Hallenstadion Zurich.
