Montreux Jazz Festival: Somi lets cab drivers speak

To write her new album "Petite Afrique", the singer Somi spent many hours with cab drivers in her current home of Harlem, New York.
Somi collected audio recordings of their conversations and added excerpts to her songs. The US-American singer with African roots performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 9, 2017. She does not assign her musical style to any genre - but she appreciates jazz because it offers her musical freedom. In our video interview, the singer explains the important message she wants to share with the world with her new album "Petite Afrique".
