Montreux Jazz Train: Where to enjoy music to the fullest

12/07/2017 written by Christoph Soltmannowski
Fans of New Orleans-style jazz are also in for a treat at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In the most literal sense.

With lots of music from the Golden Twenties, the Montreux Jazz Train travels up the Rochers de Naye, 2042 meters above sea level. There is also music and dancing at the destination. The mountain scenery and the view of Lake Geneva are part of the experience.

The idea was developed a good 20 years ago together with Montreux Jazz Festival founder Claude Nobs. "Claude was a great railroad enthusiast himself," says Niklaus Mani, who organizes the Montreux Jazz Trains.

The Montreux Jazz Train will run once again this year, on Saturday, July 15, the last day of this year's Montreux Jazz Festival. The Old Distillery Jazz Band and Moonlight Serenade, each playing in a compartment, and around 170 other jazz-loving passengers will be on board for the almost four-hour trip.
