Parov Stelar: The blues rocks!

07/02/2018 written by Remo Schraner
He helped invent one style of music and is now creating another: ParovStelar(43) presents his new album "Burning Spider" - and is coming to Switzerland with his band.

He is the co-founder of electro swing. But now he's had enough. At least for now. Because after he couldn't get the song "Mojo Hand" by US blues musician Lightnin' Hopkins (1912-1982) out of his head, he began to focus on the blues. This resulted in the album "Burning Spider".

The concept remains similar: remixing old songs and adding a modern beat. However, the blues and jazz elements are new. Compared to Stelar's previous album "The Demon Diaries", the songs are now more colorful and positive. So why the gloomy album title? "The spider is not burning, it's burning for something!" comments ParovStelar.

The former graphic designer spent an average of three weeks working on each of his new songs. A lot of work, then, which his long-time swing fans are also happy to hear. With "Black Coffee" and "Cuba Libre", not only did the names of drinks make it onto the album, but also two songs in the well-known electro-swing style.

The advertising industry likes him

Seven years ago, ParovStelaraalso broke new ground in his private life. He left his native Austria and emigrated to Mallorca with his wife and son.

At the beginning of the noughties, the musician released his songs under his real name Marcus Füreder or as "Plasma". It was only when he founded his own record label in 2003 that he called himself ParovStelar. The musician repeatedly insists that the name means nothing, butStelar wasprobably inspired by his mother, who was an enthusiastic astrologer.

In 2004, Stelarmade a name for himself with the single "Kiss Kiss". However, he only made it into the charts a few years later with the album "The Princess", which he released in 2012. This success was partly thanks to the single "All Night". The song is still popular today: Last year, it was used by an Italian mobile phone provider for a television commercial. Shortly afterwards, the song achieved double platinum status in Italy.

The advertising industry has been keen on it for several years now. So don't switch to the next TV commercial and pay attention to the music!

ParovStelarwill be coming to Switzerland with his live band at the beginning of March. As always, he will relax with an audio book and a cold beer before the performance, hug the band members and deliver an unforgettable show afterwards.
