Series: Festival Summer 2017 | Episode 18: SummerDays Festival, Arbon

What makes your festival special this year?
The mix of rock classics such as Status Quo or Manfred Mann's Earth Band on the Friday of the festival and pop greats such as Ellie Goulding or Tom Odell on the Saturday make SummerDays unique. What is particularly special this year is that our new partner festival, the Seaside Festival in Spiez, is taking place for the first time on the same weekend as the SummerDays Festival. The two festivals have entered into a partnership. We benefit above all from synergies when booking bands. Many bands perform at both festivals.

Which acts are you particularly proud of?
We are very happy about the top-class pop-rock program with superstar Ellie Goulding, Tom Odell and Rea Garvey. With Stress, Hecht and Pegasus, we also have three of the most successful Swiss acts.

What criteria did you use to put together the line-up?
We try to program the two evenings very stringently so that visitors can enjoy several highlights in one day. It's also a great effect when many fans buy a two-day ticket. This works very well at SummerDays, as a good third of visitors attend the festival on both days.

What else is on offer besides the music?
The uniquely idyllic location with direct access to the lake, the wide range of catering options with plenty of seating and an incomparable atmosphere at the end of the summer.

Festivals don't have a dress code. But is there anything you should bear in mind when it comes to clothing and outfits?
Summerdays attracts a very broad audience. That's why there is no dress code. Of course, it is always advisable to bring a sweater and, if necessary, rain protection for the night.

What moment are you personally looking forward to the most?
This year, I'm particularly looking forward to Stress's final concert, as he's only playing very exclusive gigs this year. I am convinced that he will set off some real fireworks again.

What was the best experience you've already had with the festival?
The SummerDays Festival 2012 was completely sold out. But the weather conditions were very nasty, cool and with lots of rain. Despite these circumstances, Amy MacDonald put on a great and emotional concert.

How would you describe your festival briefly and concisely in a tweet (max. 140 characters)?
Summer, sun, SummerDays: enjoying the day at the lake and dancing to the concerts. A folk festival and open air festival in one.
