The most successful rock band of all time is coming to Switzerland for the 14th time this year. We've known them for a long time, but these facts may be new to many.
1. why are they actually called "Rolling Stones"?
The band name came about spontaneously when Brian Jones was asked about it on the phone by a journalist. He looked at the floor and saw the Muddy Waters LP with the song "Rollin' Stone" lying there.
2. they weren't friends at first in elementary school
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met in elementary school at the age of five, but were not friends. Their friendship only began when they met again as students in a London subway train with records under their arms and realized that they shared the same taste in music.
3. Keith showed Johnny Depp how to turn a corner drunk
Keith Richards was the inspiration behind the role for Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean". Richards even showed Johnny Depp the best way to "turn a corner drunk".
4. how was the hit "I Wanna Be Your Man" written?
The Rolling Stones hit "I Wanna Be Your Man" from 1963 was written especially for the band by The Beatles' Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
5 The Rolling Stones fled the stage at their first Swiss gig
The band played their first Swiss gig in 1967 at the Hallenstadion in Zurich, which is still talked about today: The youthful audience smashed the wooden chairs set up to get to the stage as quickly as possible and came into conflict with the police. They caused so much panic that the Rolling Stones fled the stage.
