The Temperance Movement: "Abstinence movement" on stage

29/07/2016 written by Mohan Mani
The name of the British blues rock band means abstinence movement in German. But their sound is addictive.

Blues rock is one of the oldest genres in pop music. But every few years, a young, exciting band comes along and breathes new life into the genre. Their self-titled debut album had so much class that they were signed as a newcomer band by the Rolling Stones for the opening act. At the Blue Balls Closing Night, they play (together with Airbourne) in the Lucerne Hall.

The driving forces behind The Temperance Movement are not only the guitar riffs, but also the vocals.

A grating voice sweeps over edgy and screeching guitar riffs. If the band manages to play calmer tones, no amount of softening cough syrup will help to smooth out the voice. The main thing is that the vocals and guitars harmonize. And they do that throughout.
