Practice lifts for children and a bar where you can relax and unwind. - Rita Manetsch, ticketing/guest information and marketing employee, explains what makes Disentis special.

Series: The winter sports paradises of Switzerland | Episode 9:Disentis

What does a perfect day in your ski resort look like?
If you take the first cable car into the ski area, you might be lucky enough to be the first person on the chairlift. Once at the top, you ski down the pristine ski slope and enjoy the rising sun. After a few runs, you head to the restaurant for a tasty snack and a warm drink. By now the slopes are slowly filling up, so you choose a quieter spot to continue. Why not venture down the valley run or head to Parlet? When hunger strikes, you slowly make your way to one of the restaurants in Caischavedra or Lai Alv. With full bellies, you return to the slopes to enjoy the sun and the winter atmosphere. After a successful day's skiing, you finish off in the après-ski bar.

And what do you recommend for those who only last until lunchtime?
If you want to take it easy, you can spend the whole afternoon soaking up the sun on a sun lounger at the Bar Naveda and letting your mind wander.

What do you want children to remember after visiting your ski region?
With its 60 kilometers of slopes, the Disentis ski area is manageable enough that you won't lose sight of each other completely, even on a trip with the extended family. While the older children test the more challenging slopes, the little ones can learn to ski on our two practice lifts Pony and Palius. You will meet up again at the latest in the center of the ski area. Other highlights include a piste trip, a look behind the scenes or a snow safari.

Which slope is the coolest? And why? And how should you ski it?
The best slope in the ski area is of course the longest ski slope called Placidus a Spescha. Put your stamina to the test and complete the ten-kilometre descent from Péz Ault to S. Catrina. The descent of the Placidus a Spescha piste should be completed at a leisurely pace.

Which insider tip in your ski region would you rather not give to anyone because it's so beautiful that you'd rather be there on your own?
Our freeride slopes are an absolute insider tip: skiing down untouched natural snow at 1600m above sea level. Jump over cliffs and hills and ski through narrow and steep valleys. This is a real adrenaline rush for every freerider.

Where do your guests come from? Do they come from further afield or are they more from the region?
Our guests come from all over the world: we not only have locals among our guests, but also guests from all over Switzerland as well as Germany, Italy, Holland, Sweden and many more. Recently we have even welcomed some Sherpas from the Himalayan region.
