City Beats: New festival feeling on Kloten Stadtplatz
In June, the airport city of Kloten experiences a novelty: With City Beats, a new stage conquers Kloten Stadtplatz - a premiere that invites you to enjoy. For four evenings, the audience will enjoy a varied stage program. From June 4 - 7, Swiss and international artists will delight the audience in a cozy atmosphere - and the Boom podcast "Schliifts" will celebrate its live premiere on an outdoor stage. Music and podcast combined on stage: a novelty!
There are no big open airs in the region this summer. Festivals with camping sites and 24-hour entertainment are increasingly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, city festivals are developing into crowd-pullers and organizers have adapted to the needs of the urban audience.
Not just for locals: City Beats Kloten for everyone!
Kloten, the little sister of the big metropolis of Zurich, is injecting new life into the city festival market: from Thursday, 4 June to Sunday, 7 June 2026, the audience can expect a wide range of events: from dialect rap to pop and hard rock to live electro, you'll encounter many genres. As a non-musical highlight, the organizers have been able to secure an additional treat: "Schliifts" - the Ringier Podcats flagship with hosts Dino Kessler and Raphael Walser - will be taking to the big live stage. On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the two ice hockey experts will entertain the professional audience and welcome various guests - a show that not only every ice hockey fan should not miss.
Lots of event know-how in the background
Mike Schälchli and his Tit-Pit GmbH, local jack-of-all-trades and former president of EHC Kloten, are responsible for the new "City Beats Kloten" festival. "We want to offer the city center of Kloten added value with stage culture on the newly designed Stadtplatz and combine music culture with the ever-growing podcast culture." Two bands will perform on each of the first two evenings, creating a festival atmosphere in Kloten in early summer. According to Schälchli, predictability in the target group is a top priority: "We appeal to an audience that wants a manageable evening in a great atmosphere."
Music and culinary delights for every taste
The Stubete Gäng and local hero Bligg will kick things off on June 4. Things get rockier on Friday, June 5: Megawatt and the legendary Krokus will set the mood with thumping riffs. The City BEAT Saturday will impress with its musical diversity and will be finalized soon. Jule X and Michael Schulte have already been confirmed.
Podcast "Schliifts" as headliner: a novelty in the festival world
The Sunday finale of City Beats Kloten will be a special format: Blick ice hockey boss Dino Kessler and his counterpart Raphael Walser will present the podcast flagship "Schliifts" live on stage with illustrious guests. Fischer's men can still influence whether a Swiss world champion will be there at the home world championship in May. Either way, Kloten, a city rich in ice hockey tradition, offers plenty to talk about. After the much-listened-to and popular podcast highlight, the Sunday evening will be rounded off with Klingande, an electro DJ set with live saxophone.
