For over 525 years, the boys in their iconic sailor suits have been delighting audiences all over the world. What began in 1498 on the orders of Emperor Maximilian I as part of the Viennese court music developed into one of the most renowned choirs in music history, a cultural flagship of Austria and a resounding symbol of musical excellence, discipline and youthfulness. Names such as Joseph and Michael Haydn or Franz Schubert are inextricably linked with the history of the Sängerknaben.
