ASAF AVIDAN
01.11.2026
Casino, Casino Bern
Asaf Avidan is returning with a tour and full band line-up following the release of his new album "Unfurl". He will be performing at Casino Bern on 01.11.2026 as part of his Unfurl Band Tour.
The new show promises a broad combination of different musical genres and a theatrical stage on which Avidan will present his entire popular repertoire and perform his new albums.
An artist who writes like Leonard Cohen, sings like Robert Plant and has the charisma of a cabaret dancer - that's how the New York Times described him after one of his concerts. And although there could be no greater compliment, Avidan has now established himself as a unique artist. Both in the studio and on stage, Avidan continues to reject the use of computers, auto-tuners and playbacks. A true live experience from one of the best artists of his generation. Folk, jazz, blues, rock, pop and even rap will merge into something completely unique.
At the intersection of folk, jazz, rock, pop and blues, international singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan combines his introspective poetry with a unique, raw and piercing voice to create a style and career that defies comparison. A quintessence of raw emotion that cannot be confined by labels or genres.
Nothing has been linear or ordinary in Asaf Avidan's life. Born in Jerusalem, he grew up in Jamaica and eventually made his home in the countryside in Italy and later in France. As the son of diplomat parents who were constantly on the move, his childhood was a constant alternation between being rooted and uprooted. He often notes that his disregard for what he calls "constructed artistic boundaries" originated in this blurring of borders, cultures and peoples in his formative years.
Later, he studied film, became a sought-after voice actor, graduated from art school, was diagnosed with cancer and survived it, and became a professional animator - all before the age of 24. At 26, after a painful break-up, Avidan turned his back on his comfortable job as an animator, his apartment and his previous life and picked up the guitar for the first time. Those first songs, which he once described as "an operation without anesthetic, performed with a blunt axe", marked the beginning of a career that has spanned almost two decades and the globe.
Since then, he has sold out countless tours at coveted venues such as the Opéra Garnier and the Acropolis, headlined the biggest festivals in Europe, opened for Bob Dylan, achieved multi-platinum certifications for his albums and built a fan base of millions of avid listeners and viewers... All driven by the same urgency and emotional intensity that characterized his very first songs and now informs his ninth studio album. Though he would resist the label "purist", Avidan vehemently refuses to use computers, autotune and playbacks in his live shows and live recordings, instead reshaping the songs to fit the circumstances of the show, as evidenced by his solo tours and "In a Box" sessions, in which he reinterprets his songs all by himself.
Uncompromising in terms of his truth both on and off stage, he is known as a staunch vegan and animal rights activist, as well as an openly polyamorous troubadour who preaches the sanctity of love and relationships. Avidan's interviews and his stance on the role of artists in society, especially in recent years, are almost as sought after as his music. Together with his life partner, Avidan owns and runs an animal sanctuary in France. With "Different Pulses Sanctuary", they share their work and the lives of the animals on social media to promote empathy and compassion.
