Trottoirpoesie – Camping Jazz
This colorful quintet came together more by chance than anything else. And then this: At the “Festival da Jazz” in St. Moritz, they played to a sold-out crowd at the legendary “Dracula Club” and left to a standing ovation! Whoa, Schorsch! Something’s brewing here!
Camping Jazz? How does that even work? Camping Jazz means “making do with what’s there.” And that’s actually quite a lot. Italo-jazz clarinet, blues slide guitar, ethnic mini-marimba drums, and a pianist on a budget who can also play bass.
And up front on the stage, this sidewalk poet with his witty song miniatures. He was once labeled a “master of melancholic frivolity” or, more recently in the NZZ, an “adventurer of everyday life.” Either way, the guys are going to give it their all—word of honor!
Blues Max Werner Widmer, vocals / guitar
Richard Koechli, guitar
Daniel Schneider, clarinet, saxophone, aerophones
Mike Hasler, bass / keyboards / handsonic
Boris Steiner, ethno-drums / mini marimba / guitar
