David Duchovny
On a European tour with his new album “Prince of Pieces”
In October 2026 in Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, and Zurich
Five years after his last full-length album, American actor and songwriter David Duchovny is making a comeback in the summer of 2026 with his fourth studio album, “Prince of Pieces.” To mark the occasion, the “X-Files” star is also announcing a European tour: Starting October 13, the New York native will be coming to Germany and Switzerland to present his latest work—a blend of timeless roots rock and singer-songwriter pop—live in Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, and Zurich.
A fixture on screen for over three decades as FBI Agent Fox Mulder (“The X-Files”) and Hank Moody (“Californication”), American all-rounder David Duchovny has also been exploring other creative avenues in recent years: His first poetry collection, “About Time,” was published just recently, and his podcast “Fail Better” (featuring guests such as Ben Stiller and Bette Midler, among others) has been very successful. In the summer of 2026, he’ll be focusing on his passion for music for the fourth time—and presenting his new studio album, “Prince of Pieces.” “Singing in public used to be my biggest fear,” the Hollywood star clarified in a recent interview—and was surprised himself by the central role music now plays in his life. In fact, Duchovny was already in his 50s when he discovered the guitar (on the set of “Californication”) and songwriting. Now 65, he effortlessly builds on his acclaimed previous albums “Hell or Highwater” (2015), “Every Third Thought” (2017), and “Gestureland” (2021) with his new album “Prince of Pieces.” After creating his first demos and song sketches at home with a few longtime collaborators (Colin Lee, Mitchell Stewart, Pat McCusker), he wanted the vibe to remain as grounded, unpretentious, and intimate as possible in the studio as well. “It all sounds completely organic and rooted, a bit like ’70s rock,” says the actor and songwriter, who, as he reveals, once again developed “most of the song ideas on the acoustic guitar.” “There are so many cool images and metaphors to discover in David Duchovny’s lyrics,” says bandmate Colin Lee about the lyrics written by Duchovny, whose most important influences include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lou Reed, and Leonard Cohen. While the Golden Globe winner sometimes leans his grounded alt-rock sound toward pop, folk, or roots rock (“Catherine’s Wheel”), the new album also features experiments with piano and horns (“Born To Last”) as well as exuberant little trips to “London.” Incidentally, the new album was mixed by Bob Power—shortly before his death—who otherwise tended to work with rap and R&B icons like De La Soul, D’Angelo, and Erykah Badu. The themes of his songs, he says, are still the same: “Actually, my songs have always been about love and loss, about hope and perseverance. I suppose that will always be the case.”
