BEST OF! A musical New Year’s Eve program filled with humor, comedic and zany ideas.
The two cellists, both holders of master’s and soloist degrees, gained experience in the orchestra pits of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Zurich Opera. In search of new opportunities, they found a way from the pit to the stage with their cello comedy. Since 2007, they have been delighting audiences with plenty of music, humor, comedic talent, and zany ideas.
Inspired by the example of the master cellist Jacques Offenbach—who used classical music to entertain—the two, together with author Charles Lewinsky and director Dominique Müller, developed the idea for a stage program featuring plenty of cello music and a compelling story as its central theme.
Since then, the two cellists have not only conquered stages both large and small but also see themselves as music educators; in this capacity, they have been designing and performing family and student concerts for the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, among others, since 2013. In 2023, they realized their first project for the Lucerne Festival, and in 2024, one for Abu Dhabi Classics.
With the program “Two Cellos for a Hallelujah”—after more than 2,000 joint performances—the duo presents a compilation of their work from recent years: BEST OF!
