Gurtner & Schenk - Dernière: Marathon
Marco Gurtner and Mathias Schenk, known throughout Switzerland for their podcast “Herrgöttli Panaschiert,” are bringing their first full-length show to the stage: Marathon
People between the ages of 30 and 40 are striving for self-improvement these days. They bake sourdough or banana bread, collect mushrooms and watches. They’re learning to say “no” and to be more spontaneous. They buy houses, cars, and gym memberships. They go on raw food diets and have kids. And if they have any time left, they run a marathon. And what do Gurtner & Schenk do? They closely observe their Generations and reflect on their actions in a colorful mix of spoken word, comedy, and music—a format that naturally showcases their great talent for improvisation. The marathon serves as a metaphor for the hectic life of this phase and ultimately becomes a source of self-reflection for the two friends, who are both in their thirties as well. “Marathon” takes you along for the run. Without having to run one yourselves, you’ll be right in the thick of it, meeting all sorts of people from the starting gun to the finish line. There’s Tabea, for example, who resolves to say “no” more often and realizes during the marathon that she doesn’t even want to do it. Then there’s Jean-Marc, who has fallen in love with his personal trainer and suddenly discovers that he isn’t a real person at all.
