It’s going to be loud at the Festhalle Bern: On Wednesday, April 14, 2027, In Flames & Trivium will come together for the first time for a joint co-headlining concert in Switzerland. Two bands that have shaped modern metal for decades will share the stage, promising an evening full of brutal riffs and uncompromising energy. Rounding out the lineup are the exceptional Swiss band Paleface Swiss and the progressive metal group Vola.
In Flames have been among the most important names in Swedish metal since the early ’90s. Hailing from Gothenburg, the band has continually evolved its sound, steadily refining its blend of melodic guitars, intensity, and modern influences. From albums like *The Jester Race* and *Clayman* to *I, The Mask* and *Foregone*, In Flames have never viewed their own style as a static concept. It is precisely this evolution that has always been part of the band’s identity.
Since their breakthrough with *Ascendancy* in 2005, Trivium has established itself as a major force in modern metal. The album is still considered a milestone today and laid the foundation for a career featuring ten studio albums, international tours, and a Grammy nomination. On *What The Dead Men Say* (2020) and *In The Court Of The Dragon* (2021), the band once again showcased its full musical range: driving thrash metal, classic metal influences, progressive elements, great melodies, and technically demanding guitar work all come together here. Trivium successfully bridges the gap between intensity and catchy songs—and it is precisely this blend that has made the band one of the defining acts of their generation.
As if the lineup weren’t already spectacular enough, Paleface Swiss—the hardest-hitting Swiss metal export of recent years—is joining the bill. For several years now, this deathcore phenomenon has been proving that the picturesque city on the Limmat produces far more than just luxury goods and banks—brutal breakdowns, guttural growls, and massive mosh pits are all part of the show when Paleface Swiss tears up the stage.
Vola will kick off the evening. With their 2024 album *Friend Of A Phantom*, the Danish-Swedish band has taken another big step forward and further refined their blend of progressive metal, electronic sounds, atmospheric passages, and catchy melodies. Cannibal feat. Anders Fridén, lead singer of In Flames, also drew special attention.
Four bands, one evening full of driving melodies, heavy riffs, progressive soundscapes, and brutal intensity. In Flames, Trivium, Paleface Swiss, and Vola bring the full diversity of modern metal to one stage. A must-see for all fans of the genre!
