The internationally acclaimed pianist Irina Lankova returns to Basel with her new program A Better World—a personal musical journey through works by Schubert and Rachmaninow, characterized by poetry, humanity, beauty, and hope.
Irina Lankova
Following sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Irina Lankova presents her new program A Better World. “You have transported me to a better world,” writes Schubert in To Music. This notion of music as a force that, for a moment, takes us beyond everyday life into another, more beautiful world serves as the inspiration for the new program. With a personal selection of works by Schubert and Rachmaninow, Irina Lankova takes the audience on a musical journey full of poetry, warmth, and emotion. The pieces are linked by subtle musical and emotional affinities, creating a unique narrative —an invitation to immerse ourselves in a world where tenderness, beauty, and hope reconnect us with our own inner light. The audience will discover both masterpieces and rare gems—in a poetic dialogue between Schubert and Rachmaninow and, as always with Irina Lankova, “with that natural and sincere virtuosity that seems to dissolve the music into pure emotion and make hearts sing,” according to La Libre Belgique.
