Phantoms of Future—the pioneers of musical crossover in Germany
With their hit single “Sun,” Phantoms of Future spent weeks in the TOP 3 of the official German DAC charts alongside Metallica with “One” and Nirvana with “Smells Like Spirit.” After more than 20 years—the live comeback and the 10th album, *After Dark*, from the unique German crossover indie/new wave/rock/punk/metal band led by Sir Hannes Smith (The Idiots). Major tours in the ’90s with Iggy Pop, The Stranglers, Sisters of Mercy, the Sex Pistols, Cypress Hill, and The Prodigy. The new album was recorded and mixed at Soundlodge Studio in Rhauderfehn by and with Jörg Uken (Anvil, Suicidal Angel, Rumbel Militia, Weckörhead, Temple of Dread, etc.) and produced jointly by Sir Hannes and Jörg Uken. Phantoms of Future was an exceptional German rock band founded in Dortmund in 1986. The original lineup included Sir Hannes Smith (vocals), Dörfel (bass), Harald Uri (drums), and Dirk “Dr. Krid” Schwarzer (guitar). Their debut album, released in 1987, sold 500 copies and won the “Prinz-Ruhrgebiets-Wettbewerb.” In 1990, Paul “Eysenhauer” Schrewe took over on bass, and Olaf Bolte joined as drummer. The band’s first vinyl album and first CD, *Cruel Times*, were produced that year. After achieving major success with *Loco Poco* in 1991, Chapter 3—the 1993 Trance Album, and This Flight Tonight in 1993, they signed with Sony Music in 1995 and worked with producer Siggi Bemm on the albums Call of the Wild (1995) and Chimera (1996). Notable singles included “Sun,” “Crackin’ Up,” and “Caught by Fire.” Don’t miss this musical snapshot of the ’90s—and today.

Hanter Dro from Lucerne/Sursee, formed 2015
With the musically restless Sorsee native Roman Krasniqi on drums—who began his musical career as a guitarist and singer with the grunge band Napkins in the late ’90s and, with the instrumental group Tunica Tartos, he subsequently achieved international success as a guitarist, which took him all the way to Chicago to work with Steve Albini at his Electrical Studios (owner of the bands Shellac and Big Black, and the man behind the sound of Nirvana and the Pixies’ albums) to realize his musical visions for Sound Buffet’s debut album.
Since 2015, Roman has been touring with Hanter Dro as the drummer. The band also features the Fischer brothers—Tim Fischer on vocals and Jerry on guitar—as well as Dominik Weingartener on bass. The musicians and the band are a popular live act in the Lucerne and Sursee area. Hanter Dro is!!!
Intensity, deep emotions, and a palpable melancholy have always formed the foundation of Hanter Dro. The Lucerne-based band’s sound, rooted in post-hardcore and alternative rock, is embarking on a new chapter following a period of transformation. Following the release of their album “Death by Algorithm” in early 2020, the band returns today feeling more liberated and bold. True to the line from their latest song, “In empty space new matter awakes,” Hanter Dro transforms the longing for new energy into a gripping dynamic. With undiminished passion, the band is fully focused on creating and refining their upcoming material. Because the music remains—and so does the love for it. Hanter Dro’s melancholic world is perfectly complemented by the melancholic and theatrical crossover vibe of the Phantoms of Future Visions as the opening act.
